A rectangle has a perimeter of 26 cm, and one of its sides has a length of 5 cm. Label the lengths of each of the other three sides.

That means that two of the sides of the rectangle in this problem will be 5cm, for a total of 10cm. 26cm - 10 cm = 16cm. This means that the remaining two sides will be half of 16cm, 16cm/2 = 8cm. So the two shorter sides of the rectangle will both be 5cm and the two longer sides will both be 8cm.

dividing both sides by 2, we get

5 + W = 26/2= 13

Then we can consider length is 8 and width is 5
