A rectangle's opposite sides are always equal in length. Picture the front of a cereal box - the top and bottom are the same length and the left and right sides are also the same length. That means that two of the sides of the rectangle in this problem will be 5cm, for a total of 10cm. 26cm - 10 cm = 16cm. This means that the remaining two sides will be half of 16cm, 16cm/2 = 8cm. So the two shorter sides of the rectangle will both be 5cm and the two longer sides will both be 8cm.
