So if we choose to represent a number with the variable x, we can piece together this equation.
"Twice this number" --> 2x
"Three more" --> adding 3
"Is 24" --> = 24
Putting all of this together...
2x + 3 = 24 and now we can solve for x!
-3 -3
2x = 21
/2 /2
x = 10.5
The number should be 10.5! But to double check, let's work backwards.
Twice 10.5 --> (10.5)*(2) = 21
Three more than 21 is indeed 24!
