The blank is 49 cause -7^2 is 49, and (v - 7)(v - 7) gives v^2 - 7v - 7v + 49 = v^2 - 14v + 49.

Hi! I'd be more explicit still and acknowledge that "b" is a negative number: (-14/2)^2 = ? It doesn't matter here, it's true, but if you were deriving it in its more general form, it's actually (b/(2a))^2, so . . . for rigor. :)08/06/20
