Just a quick question, but is a damped sine wave function a type of composite function?

No. This is a product of a decaying exponential and a sine function, something like

f(t) = A e^-bt sin(ωt + φ)

where b is a positive number. It has the form

f(t) = g(t)h(t)

where

g(t) = A e^-bt

h(t) = sin(ωt + φ)

A composite function is a function of a function, such as

(f o g)(x) = f(g(x))

But this is not the case for a damped sine wave.
