x represent the length
198 = x(x + 2)(2)
198 = 2x2 + 4x
0 = 2x2 + 4x - 198
0 = x2 + 2x - 99
Can you solve for x and answer?

Let x = length
Let x + 2 = height
V= l w h
198 = (x)(2)(x+2)
198 = (2x)(x+2) I multiplied the 2 and the x
198 = 2x2 + 4x Distributed the 2x
2x2+4x-198 = 0 Quadratic equation that I set equal to 0
x2+2x-99=0 I divided everything by 2 to make the numbers smaller
(x+11)(x-9)=0 Factored
x+11 = 0 and x - 9 = 0 Set each factor equal to 0
x = -11 and x =9 I solved for x.
Reject -11 because you can't have negative size.
Answers length = 9 and height = 9 + 2 = 11
