What is the best approach to remembering anatomical landmarks

The best learning approach to anatomy is finding what works best for you! For me, notecards/quizlet helped me immensely. As someone mentioned above, anatomy coloring books are also great! Anatomy requires daily studying and self quizzing to help learn and remember anatomical terms and landmarks. Happy studying!

Anatomy can be very difficult and there is a very substantial amount of information to remember! The best approach depends on your learning style and you as an individual. For me, I used to study with an anatomical coloring book (or black and white print out). As I was studying a particular section or system, I would color each item a different color so that each one stood out better and I could picture it clearly! This is very helpful for bones and muscles as they can all blend together! I would love to help you figure out more helpful ways to study and conquer anatomical landmarks!

My best approach is to try to come up with mnemonics that can help you remember these landmarks. For example,you can remember that the fibula is the most lateral leg bone if you can remember "fibuLATERAL". Another example is that the ulna (U) bone in the arm connects to the pinky (P), so you can remember that if you remember "UP" A third example is differentiating between C1 and C2 on the cervical spine. C1 is the atlas and C2 is the axis, but its easy to remember because in alphabetical order, atlas is first (C1) and axis is second (C2).
