"Affect" is a verb that means "to influence," while "effect" is usually used as a noun.
"She didn't want her advice to affect my decision."
"She didn't want her advice have an effect on my decision."
The exception to this is a rarer use of "effect" as a verb, where it means "to bring about."
For example, you can say that someone "effects change."
