m = (-3 - 1)/(-3 - 5) = -4/-8 = 1/2

y = (1/2)x + b

Find b from either given point.

1 = (1/2)(5) + b

b = -3/2

y = (1/2)x - 3/2

You want the coefficient of x to be a positive integer, so multiply through by 2.

2y = x - 3

x - 2y = 3
