 In the NCAA men's basketball tournament, 64 teams compete in round 1. Fewer teams remain in each following round, as shown in the graph below, until all but one team have been eliminated. The numbers of teams in each round form a geometric sequence. How many teams compete in round 5?

A basketball game is between two teams so the first round will have 32 games played. This will yield 32 losing teams and 32 winning teams to move on to round 2. After round 2, there will remain 16 teams for round 3. After round 3 there remains 8 teams for round 4. After round 4 there are 4 teams left. Then after round 5 there are 2 teams left. The sequence is as follows

64,32,16,8,4,2,1

So 4 teams compete in round 5 (2 teams advance to round 6)
