If x = cost of a lily
if y= cost of a geranium
we can set up two equations to determine the cost of 1 lily and 1 geranium'
3 x + 4 y =50
3 x + 8 y = 94
Using the additive inverse for 3 x
- 4 y = -44
- each geranium is $11
- and substituting in each lily is $2
