Use the Pythagorean theorem to find the length of the unknown side of the right triangle give an exact answer
Hypotenuse = 4
Bottom leg = √2
Pythagorean states.....a2 + b2 = c2
a = bottom leg
b = other leg
c = hypotenuse
(sqrt 2)2 + b2 = (4)2
2 + b2 = 16
b2 = 14
b = sqrt(14)
check....(sqrt2)2 + (sqrt14)2 = (4)2 ..... 2 + 14 = 16.........it checks...
