I assume you meant to say
g(x) = (x - 2)/(x2 - 9)
(Please group things in parentheses.) The denominator must not be zero.
x2 - 9 = (x - 3)(x + 3)
Both 3 and -3 make the denominator zero, so these values cannot be in the domain. You are correct.
