asked 04/21/20In a northern European country, the formula y=0.037x2−2.5x+62.52
the formula
y=0.037x2−2.5x+62.52
models the number of deaths per year per thousand people, , for people who are years old, 40≤x≤60. Approximately how many people per thousand who are 53 years old die each year? For the purposes of this problem, please round your answer to a whole number.

The problem states that this quadratic equation models the death rate per thousand for any age in the interval of 40 to 60 years old. Since the age group in question, 53, is within this interval plug 53 into the eqution and solve for y.
(0,037 x (532) - (2.5 x 53) + 62.52 = number of deaths per 1000
(0.037 x 2809) -132.5 + 62.52
103.93 -132.5 + 62.52 = 33.95
Which rounds to 34 deaths per 1000 people aged 53 years old.
Hope this helps

So I would take the age that you are trying to find the deaths for, and plug it into the x part of the equation because y is the number your are looking for. Wherever there is an x in the equation you can substitute 53. Solve the equation from there and round and you’ll have your answer!04/21/20
