Work out time , I know the speed

The ship S now sails directly towards port P.

The ship sails at an average speed of 24 km/h.

(b)​Work out how long it takes the ship to get to P.

​Give your answer correct to the nearest hour.

Janet, in order to be able to solve to problem - how long it will take the ship to reach port P, we need more information. We need the distance between Ship S and Port P. Once we know the distance between the two, we would use the equation, (24/1) = (distance between S and P/x).

Once we know the distance between S and P, we would have one variable, which is x. We would cross multiply the two fractions (which do not look like fraction in this forum because I cannot add fractions) and solve for x from there.
