Let 's use the variable x to represent the number.
Then the words "twice a number" could be represented with: 2x
The words "sum of twice a number and 17" would be represented by: 2x + 17
The words "no greater than 41" would be represented: < 41
Combining all these expressions, we can create the following inequality:
2x + 17 < 41
