Hi Sara,
you have this table:
| x | y |
| 0 | 0 |
| 1 | 0.8 |
| 2 | 1.50 |
| 3 | 2.20 |
| 4 | 3.0 |
| 5 | 3.75 |
a- draw coordinate plane and show all points that are in the above table such as (0,0) and (1,0.8) and so on
b- try and be careful then connect all points, you will see a line
c- find the slope, HOW ? slope = difference of y over difference of x of two points that you choose
I chose ( 0,0) and (1,0.8) slope = ( 0.8 - 0 )/ (1-0) = 0.8
for finding an equation of line use: y - y1 = slope( x - x1)= y - 0 = 0.8 ( x - 0 )---> y = 0.8 x equation of line
Be careful if I chose (0.0) and (5,3.75) then slope is 0.75
if I chose (0.0) and (4,3) then slope is 0.75
if I chose (0,0) and (3,2.20) then slope will be 0.73, because of this, ask you the best approximate
I believe the best is y = 0.75 x as an equation of line
d- x = 10 so y = 10 *0.75 = 7.5 weight
e- 7.5 * 2.25 = 16.875 approximate $17 cost
I hope it is useful,
