GCF goes on the outside of the parenthesis. You divide each term of the binomial by the GCF and that is what goes inside the parenthesis.
Here is an example
21x2+3x The GCF is 3x Divide both terms by the GCF
21x2/3x+3x/3x Reduce and put the GCF out in front
3x(7x+1)
