What Is the Solution to this painting?

Question

The Man is in a tough predicament, If he stands up from the chair, the monster will be released and the bridge will fall. However if he remains still and the time runs out, then the bridge will fall and the monster will be released. What is the solution to this painting? Need help.

The message of the picture would appear to convey that he is in a “6 one-way half a dozen the other“ predicament. Just leaving it a matter choice. What does he gain ? there’s usually going to be a gain, or loss. He must have a moral decision of some sort. IE one way I’ll be selfless and another self seeking! If the picture is without this element, as stated the picture would just mean there was no way out. I find it rare that an artist have a no way out option or moral test In their work! so I would reevaluate the painting and look for a test of humanity or some type of leave one to save the many situation. To conclude find some type of deeper meaning other than equal outcome it’s just not that common with art maybe challenge to think a little deeper.
