Hi, I invite you to see my answer to the question "How do I solve the rate of change for this equation?
.
if you understand this, then you know how to do all similar problem.

What is the rate of change?How do I solve it?
Step 1: you need to identify the given equation.
Equation of line, formula is: y=mx+b, where m represent slope.
what slope means? it is rise/runs, another word, (distance change vertically)/(distance change in horizontally). m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
step 2: y=2x+1. you see m=2, this means when x value change by 1, y value will change 2,(which is 2 times of 1) compared to the previous y value.
Ex:
when x=0, y=1
when x=1, y=3
when x=2, y=5
when x=3, y=7
when x=4, y=9
you see pattern? x value increase by 1 and y value increase 2, which is 2 times of 1.
By the way, go back check see if it is true for m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
pick y=9, y=3, and x=4, x=1.
you get m=(9-3)/(4-1)
m=6/3
m=2.
let us see more ex:
when x=2, y=5
when x=5, y=11
when x=8, y=17
when x=11, y=23
see pattern? x value increase by 3 and y value increase by 6, which is 2 times of 3.
Rate of change is slope. answer is 2.
I hope this helps!
Give me sum up if you like it.
