Depending on the era, if recently in the 2016 election, the democratic party would most likely not have effected the results due to the amount of electoral votes among the undecided candidates in the electoral college was 5 and this would not have been able to satisfy the amount of votes needed in order to elect Hillary Clinton. She received 227 electoral votes while Donald Trump received 304. This 5 vote difference would have given Clinton 232 electoral votes which is not the 270 needed to win. Therefore, it would not have made a difference in the results of the 2016 election.
