The question asks how much shorter is the sheet than the bed. First thing i notice is the measurement of the sheet is in inches and the measurement of the bed is in feet and inches. So we will need to convert the measurements to the same unit. Since I have no answer choices to decide which unit to choose, I am going to use inches. The length of the bed is 9 feet plus 6 inches long, so we need to convert the feet to inches. The unit conversion of feet to inches is 1 foot to 12 inches. Since we have 9 feet we would want to multiply 9 by 12 to get the number of inches in 9 feet. When I multiply them together I get 108 inches in 9 feet. We still have the 6 inches from the length of the bed to add to this and so 108 + 6 = 114 inches for the total length of the bed.
Going back to the question, the sheet is only 79 inches long and the question is how much is the difference or how short is the sheet. To find this out we need to subtract the sheet from the bed . 114 - 79 =35. The sheet is 35 inches shorter than the bed
