To simplify the answer, type 1 diabetic patient does not make any insulin therefore has to take insulin and type two diabetic patients make insulin but their body does not use it properly. as time progress he or she may not make enough insulin to allow his or her body to get rid of excess glucose. Glucose is produce and stored in the liver and release to the blood stream when needed. Insulin is produce in the pancreas and the present of excess glucose in the blood stream promt pancreas to release insulin. The insulin now prompt the cells to remove excess glucose and store it in the muscle for energy. Without insulin, the blood will have too much glucose which can produce high blood sugar. In both cases lack of insulin or not enough insulin causes high blood sugar..
