Consecutive odd integers are separated by 2 units. For example, consider the sequence of consecutive odd integers:
3,5,7,9,11,...
So if Q is an odd integer, the next odd integer is Q + 2, and the next one after that is (Q + 2) + 2 = Q + 4. This same rule applies to consecutive even integers too.
