What is the perimeter of the notebook? If you have the perimeter, we can solve this. Let's call the value of the perimeter "p." I believe we can assume the notebook is a rectangle. If that is the case, the perimeter will be length+length+width+with. If you say the length is 11, it would be 11+11+width+width, or 22+width+width. If you have the value of the perimeter, you'd have
p=22+width+width
We want to figure out what the width is, per your question of how wide it is. So, we want the width side to be by itself. We're going to subtract 22 from both sides. So, take the perimeter minus 22. Then, you'll know p-22 is equal to two of your widths. Then, you'll divide the value of p-22 in half to find the value of one width.
