What is 4q²-5q=3q²-8q+40 in standard form

ax² + bx + c = 0

In our case, we have q instead of x, buuuut same concept. We "move" everything to the left by using the opposite operation, then combine like terms.

4q²-5q=3q²-8q+40

4q² - 3q² - 5q + 8q - 40 = 0

q² + 3q - 40 = 0

4q²-5q=3q²-8q+40

4q²-3q²-5q+8q-40=0

q²+3q-40=0

or

(q-3)(q+8)=0

it depends what your teacher want. But most likely he or she want q²+3q-40=0 because it is quadratic.
