Set the problem up like a ratio fraction:
3 red ounces / 2 yellow ounces
If you want to leave the names out of the way for the mathematics, then that's fine:
3/2
What you do now is essentially multiply this by ratios of one. Let me explain:
2/2 = 1; 4/4 = 1; 36712/36712 = 1
I'll give you one to see what happens:
3/2 * 2/2 = 6 red ounces / 4 yellow ounces
The numerator multiplies with the numerator, and the denominator multiplies with the denominator.
Now you can find other ratios. Try 3/3 and 4/4 on your own.
