three friends each have some ribbon. carol has 42 inches of ribbon Tino has 2.5 feet of ribbon, and Baxter has 1.5 yards of ribbon. express the total length of ribbon the three friends have in inches, feet and yards.

First recall that : 12 inches = 1 foot

3 feet = 1yd

36 inches = 1 yd

For the total in inches:

Carol : 42 inches

Tino : 2.5 feet *12 = 30 inches

Baxter: 1.5 yards * 36 = 54 inches

TOTAL IN INCHES: 42 + 30 + 54 = 126 inches

For the total in feet :

Carol : 42 inches /12 = 3.5 feet

Tino : 2.5 feet

Baxter: 1.5 yards * 3 = 4.5 feet

TOTAL IN FEET: 3.5 + 2.5 + 4.5 = 10.5 feet

For the total in yards :

Carol : 42 inches /36 = 1.17 yards

Tino : 2.5 feet/3 = 0.83 yards

Baxter: 1.5 yards

TOTAL IN YARDS: 1.17 + 0.83 + 1.5 = 3.5 yards
