The relationship between altitude and the boiling point of a liquid is linear.At an altitude of 8100 ​ft, the liquid boils at 197.23 degrees Fahrenheit. At an altitude of 4600 ​ft, the liquid boils at 203.18 degrees Fahrenheit. Write an equation giving the boiling point b of the​ liquid, in degrees​ Fahrenheit, in terms of altitude​ a, in feet. What is the boiling point of the liquid at 2200 ​ft?

the relationship between A and b is linear so A = mb + c ( general form of equation of the line)

NOW replace the given information in the made function

8100 = m ( 197.23) + c

4600 = m ( 203.18) + c

with solving the above system, you can find m and c. You Know many method to solve a system.

I subtract two equations

8100 -4600 = 197,23m - 203.18 +c - c ------> 3500 = - 5.95 m both sides divided by -5.95

m = -588.235

then by replacing m in one of above equation you find c = 124117.5891

SO FUNCTION IS A = -588.235 b + 124117.5891

Last part: altitude = 2200 what is b???

it is enough plug in 2200 in the found function

2200 = -588.235 b + 124117.5891 ---------> b = 207.26 degree
