2 * (L + W)
Therefore, the rectangle's perimeter is defined by:
2 * (L + W) = 44
Since, we know that the length is equal to 3 times the width, we can express the relationship like this.
2 * (3W + W) = 44 ==> 2 * 4W = 44 ==> 8W = 44
Dividing both sides by 8, we find that the width, W, is equal to 5 1/2.
Since the length, L, is equal to 3 times the width, L is equal to 16 1/2.
To double check our answer...
2 * (16 1/2 + 5 1/2) = 2 * 22 which does equal 44.
