The formula for the x coordinate of the vertex is -b/(2a) So for this problem you would get
x=-8/(2)=-4
To find the y coordinate of the vertex, plug in the x coordinate and solve
f(-4)=(-4)2 + 8(-4) + 12
=16-32+12
=-4
The vertex is at (-4,-4)
For the x intercepts, set the y value equal to zero and solve.
0=x2 + 8x + 12 Factor
0=(x+6)(x+2)
Which means x=-6,-2
The x intercepts are (-6,0) and (-2,0)
For the y intercept, set the x value equal to zero and solve.
f(0)=(0)2 + 8(0) + 12 =12
The y intercept is (0,12)
