Question

Set up a system of equations and then solve using inverse matrics.

An investor has found two investment that he wants to invest in. The first one pays 10% per year and a more risky investment pays 20% per year. He has $39,000 to invest and would like an annual income of $6,600.00 per year from his investments.

The amount invested at 10% is $ 12000

but i cant find out what The amount invested at 20% is

X+Y = 39000

0.1X + 0.2Y = 6600

0.1X + 0.2(39000 - X) = 6600

0.1X + 7800 - 0.2X = 6600

7800 - 0.1X = 6600

-0.1X = -1200

X = 12000

Y = 39000 - 12000 = 27000
