If I failed both my algebra classes, how will I pass the math part of the SAT?

I struggled for the longest time in math. The problems I read never made sense. It would look like a foreign language. The only math classes I did well in were Basic Geometery and Concepts of math. How am I supposed to do well on the SAT if I never understood the math in the first place?

Each one of us is capable of learning. A subject becomes interesting to learn when we understand the basic principles and how to use them to solve problems. If you have missed the basics of math then you will need to begin there. You'd be surprised how easy that can be if you are willing to put the effort and are guided by a good tutor. If you have a year or more available before you are required to take the SAT, you will be able to improve your ability. It will take perseverance, sincere effort and a good tutor. Don't give up yet. The reality is that you will probably not do well on the math portion of the SAT. However, a lot may have gotten into your brain without you realizing it.

My recommendation is that you spend a few hours with an in-person tutor and an SAT practice test. Based on the results, your tutor can recommend a course of action.
