Lashing belt of rage meaning

Please tell me about the meaning of this sentence:

How satisfying it might be, momentarily, to have a direct receptacle for some lashing belt of her rage.

What do you do with someone's furious rage direct at you? It is not a question here of how you react or respond or retaliate. I think the question is, is there someplace, some receptacle where I can trash this rage? Trashing the rage may not totally get rid of it but it will subdue the ferocity and "put it in its place".

This is an interesting concept - to take the abstract(but very real) emotion and put it in a concrete container....This could be an idea for shark tank!
