Our batch requires three times more Component A than Component B. In the solution that Component B is in (Solution B), Component B is 50% concentrated. Fifty pounds of Solution B is added to the batch. How much of Component A is needed?

Solution B is 50% concentrated

 

50 lbs of solution B is added, so amount of component B in the solution added is 50 lb * 50/100 = 25 lb

 

3 times more component A is needed

 

So Component A needed = 3*25 = 75 lb
