Since each nickel has a height of 1/16 inch, then 3 of them will have a height of 3 times 1/16 or 3/16 inch.
The height of 2 nickels will be 2 times 1/16 or 2/16 inch.
The height of 1 nickel will still be 1/16 inch.
The sum of all the heights will be: 3/16 + 2/16 + 1/16 = 6/16 inch or 3/8 inch in simplest form.
You could also add the number of nickels and multiply by 1/16.
There are 6 total nickels and 6 times 1/16 = 6/16 or 3/8 inch
