SAT MATH
Let N = the number
Let (N/2) - 3 = the difference of half a number and 3
Let (N/2) - 3 - 4 = Four less than the difference of half a number and 3
(N/2) - 3 - 4 = 20 (..........is twenty)
(N/2) - 7 = 20 (Combining -3 and -4.)
(N/2) - 7 + 7 = 20 + 7 (Adding 7 to both sides of equation.)
N/2 = 27 (7's cancel out and 20 + 7 = 27.)
(N/2) (2) = (27) (2) (Multiplying both sides of equation by 2.)
N = 54 (The 2's cancel out and 27 x 2 = 54.)
ANSWER: THE NUMBER IS 54
CHECKING: (N/2) - 3 - 4 = (54/2) - 3 - 4 = 27 - 3 - 4 = 24 - 4 = 20
Hope this helps Muhammad Y.
