These types of problems require you to put everything that is not b on one side of the equation. So to start we have:
1) b-1.6/4=-3 . Analyzing the problem is that we have 3 parts: b, -1.6/4, and -3. We want b on one side and everything else on the other. So we are going to add 1.6/4 to both sides. Now our equation is:
2)b=-3+1.6/4. We are done. However, some people might prefer for you to combine -3 and 1.6/4, and to do that we can multiply -3 by 4/4 to get -12/4+1.6/4, so the simplified solution is:
3)b=-10.4/4.
