Since both are in the for y=, substitution results in setting the 2 equations equal to each other
-6x-5=-2x-1 Add 6x to both sides
-6x-5+6x=-2x-1+6x Simplify
-5=-1+4x Add 1 to both sides
-5+1=-1+4x+1 Simplify
-4=4x Divide both sides by 4
-4/4=4x/4 Simplify
x=-1
Not plug this into either of the original equations to solve for y
y=-2(-1)-2
y=2-1
y=1
Solution is (-1,1)
