SAT MATH
STARTING WITH A BOX CONTAINING 150 CUPS
Red Cups = 40 = 40/150 = 4/15
Blue Cups = 60 = 60/150 = 6/15
Green Cups = 50 = 50/150 = 5/15
MARTIN RANDOMLY SELECTS 90 CUPS FROM THE BOX
Number of RED cups out of 90 = 4/15 and (4/15)(90) = 24
Number of BLUE cups out of 90 = 6/15 and (6/15)(90) = 36
Number of GREEN cups out of 90 = 5/15 and (5/15)(90) = 30
How many blue cups is he likely to have set out on tables?
ANSWER: 36 BLUE CUPS
Hope this helps Nico.
This assumes a lot. In the real world, it would be highly unlikely that the same ratio of
colored cups in the box of 150 would match the same ratio in the 90 cups on the tables.
