So the slope-intercept form of a line is y=mx+b. Line P has the equation y+1=-5(x+2), and we can see that the slope is -5 (as it can be written as y=-5x-11). Since line L is parallel to line P, the slope of line L is -5. Thus, we have the line L has the form y=-5x+b. Now, we just plug in the point (-3,30) by replacing x and y with -3 and 30, respectively. Then we solve for b. We have: 30=-5(-3)+b, or 30=(15)+b, or 30-(15)=b, or 15=b.
So, the equation of line L is y = -5x +15.
You could also use point-slope form if you really want to.
