math question

A mountain climber drinks a 32 ounce bottle of water every 90 minutes on a hike. how many water bottles should the mountain climber bring on a hike that lasts 4 hours and 30 minutes?

Well, a few things. First, this was for my 4th graders homework and they aren't exactly doing algebraic math. Also the question was how many water bottles was needed....not how many ounces. So that still didn't really answer my question.

First of all, nothing was mentioned as to the grade level of the problem. The majority of requests on this site comes from high school students. I cannot be faulted for assuming - with out any contrary information - that this was an algebra problem.
 
My error for not converting ounces to bottles. He would need 96/32 or 3 bottles.
 
An alternative would be to determine how many 90 minute hikes are done in 4 hours and 30 minutes.
This could be done by dividing 4.5 by 1.5. Yet this operation with decimals might not be in the curriculum of 4th grade.
