I'm not sure you typed your problem entirely correctly, but f(2) = -4 means that when x = 2, y = -4.
For example...
f(x) = 2x - 7
f(2) = 2(2) - 7 = 4 - 7 = -3
So, one point on the graph of f(x) = 2x - 7 is (2,-3).
f(7) = 2(7) - 7 = 14 - 7 = 7, so another point is (7,7).
