1/2 x
And then we subtract 9 from it...
1/2 x - 9
And that equals 4:
1/2 x - 9 = 4
To solve this we start by adding 9 to both sides:
1/2 x - 9 + 9 = 4 + 9
1/2 x = 13
Now we multiply both sides by 2:
1/2 x * 2 = 13 * 2
x = 26
