Since the sum of all the angles in a traingle is 180 degrees, we can add all three expressions together and make the sum equal to 180.
A + B + C = 180
(x-36) + (1/2x + 18) + (3x - 72) =180
Now combine like terms and use inverse operations to determine the value of x:
4.5 x - 90 = 180
4.5 x -90 + 90 = 180 + 90
4.5x = 270
x = 270/4.5
x = 60
Therefore the measure of each angle is:
A: x - 36 = 60 - 36 = 24 degrees
B: 1/2 x + 18 = 1/2 * 60 + 18 = 30 + 18 = 48 degrees
C: 3x -72 = 3 * 60 - 72= 180 - 72 = 108 degrees
The sum of all three angles is 180 degrees (24 + 48 + 108 = 180)
