a) determine the simplified equation for P(n), the profit function for the situation

Profit = Revenue - Cost, so
P(n) = R(n) - C(n)
P(n) = (2n) - (144+.80n)
You will need to distribute the minus sign to both terms in the second set of parentheses and then combine like terms.
Once you have the simplified profit function, plug in 1000 for n.
