I am trying to determine if an absolute value equation has no, one, or two solutions. Here is a response I received:
Once you have isolated the absolute value isolated on one side of the equal sign, if the quantity on the other side of the equal sign is positive- there are 2 answers. If the quantity is equal to zero-there is one answer. If the absolute value quantity is negative, there will be no solution.
In the equation: -4 | 4u | = 3
If i isolate the absolute value by adding 4 to both sides I have 7 on the other side. Why i am i being told it has no solution? I assumed it would have two solution seeing that 7 is positive.
