Sam used 38 loaves of elf bread on a 14 day hiking trip. He wants to know how many loaves of elf bread he should pack for a 35 day hiking trip if he eats the same amount of bread each day.

You could create a pair of equivalent rates/ratios to solve this problem:

38 loaves = x loaves

14 days 35 days

Use cross products to solve:

38 * 35 = 14x

1330= 14x

1330/14 = 14x / 14

95 loaves = x

He will need 95 loaves.
