Semicolons are similar to periods in that they separate two independent clauses. That means that semicolons can be replaced with periods to make two separate, complete sentences. So the easiest way to check sentences with semicolons is to ask yourself if the clause before or after the punctuation can be a complete sentence.
A) I’d like to eat lunch,however;
Is that a complete sentence? No. So That semicolon isn’t correct. When however is placed in the middle of a sentence, it needs a comma before and after it. So to make choice a correct, the semicolon should be a comma.
That should help with choices B and C also.
