Understanding what the problem is that you need to solve is the trick to this question. Imagine a baseball diamond with marking for the amount yards you are from the home plate. Then lets review the problem. Peter threw his baseball to the 70 yard marking and Josh thew his baseball to the 82 yard marking on the field. The problem is we need to know how many feet away is the 82 yard marking from the 70 yard marking on the field.
Your equation should look like this: 82 yards - 70 yards = 12 yards * (3 feet/ 1 yard) = 36 feet
Your answer: Josh threw his baseball 36 feet farther than Peter.
