Need help answering this math question...

Mercury travels around the sun at a speed of approximately 1.72 x 105km/hr. Expressed in scientific notation how far does it travel in one day? Recall that distance = speed x time.


Again, I have the answer for this equation, but am not understanding how it's done. If anyone could explain it, it would be greatly appreciated.


ANS = 4.1 x 10^6
